Anuprava Chatterjee

Investment Professional

At Avataar, Anuprava focuses on B2B businesses, from manufacturing, aerospace and industrials to healthcare, financial services and software. He stays deeply curious about the technology, economics and systems underneath them: what makes a business actually work.

Before Avataar, he spent 4 years at DC Advisory, joining investment banking straight out of engineering & advising on buyouts, M&As & growth equity raises representing over $1.5bn in cumulative transaction value. Having watched Indian software prove it could build for the world, he got equally interested in tech-enabled India-first businesses. At Avataar he also gets to do both: back exceptional founders, then wear an operating hat alongside them on what they are trying to make real.

Anuprava trained as an electrical engineer at IIT Kharagpur, where his early work in AI, quantitative modelling and applied mathematics led to three international journal publications. His interest in investing began more by experiment than design, through investment internships and later by helping run gradCapital, a student-led investment fund backing student founders while he was still at IIT. He has cleared Level 1 of the CFA program.

Outside work, Anuprava lifts, paints (a habit that started at three and never left), plays competitive video games, gets anxious about Real Madrid & Novak Djokovic, and invests heavily in thrillers and good fiction.
